Brayden Wood drove in four on three hits to lead the Freshman Oilers past Santa Margarita Eagles 16-4 on Monday. Wood drove in runs on a single in the first, a walk in the second, a single in the third, and a single in the fourth.
Oilers grabbed an early lead and scored on a sacrifice fly by Dane Cunningham, a single by Wood, and an error in the first inning.
Oilers put up five runs in the third inning. Jason Dunham and Wood powered the big inning with RBIs.
Dunham was credited with the victory for Oilers. The righty went three innings, allowing four runs on two hits, striking out one and walking one. Nathan Sammartano threw two innings in relief out of the bullpen.
Oilers racked up 11 hits. Wood and Sol Moriyama each racked up multiple hits for Oilers. Wood led Oilers with three hits in three at bats. Tommy August led Oilers with two stolen bases, as they ran wild on the base paths with five stolen bases.
