Eli Mason drove in four runs on two hits to lead Freshman Oilers past Cypress Freshman 6-2 on Tuesday. Mason hit a home run to right field in the sixth inning, scoring three runs, and singled in the seventh inning, scoring one.
Jaxon Vilardi hit a sacrifice fly, which helped the Freshman Oilers tie the game at one in the top of the third.
Freshman Oilers took the lead in the top of the sixth. Mason homered to right field, scoring three runs, to give Freshman Oilers the edge, 4-2.
Ryder Cielen began the game for Freshman Oilers. The starting pitcher allowed three hits and two runs (one earned) over three innings, striking out seven and walking none. Duncan McLeod and Christian Haupt each threw scoreless innings for Freshman Oilers in relief.
Mason and Jaxon Olmstead were a force together in the lineup, as they each collected two hits for Freshman Oilers while hitting back-to-back.
