The Freshman Oilers stole the lead late in the game in a 6-2 victory over Mater Dei Freshman Monarchs on Wednesday. The game was tied at two with Oilers batting in the bottom of the fifth when Jackson Cambell threw a wild pitch allowing one run across the plate for Oilers.
Oilers got on the board in the first inning and scored one run when Owen Bone tripled.
Mater Dei Freshman Monarchs evened things up at two in the top of the third inning when Preston Prabhu singled on a 1-1 count, scoring one run.
Dane Cunningham led the Oilers to victory on the pitcher's mound. The righthander surrendered two runs on five hits over six innings, striking out three and walking one. Easton Shortle threw one inning in relief out of the bullpen.
Oilers had seven hits in the game. Jason Dunham and Bone all managed multiple hits for Oilers. Dunham led Oilers with three hits in four at bats.
