An early lead helped Freshman Oilers defeat San Clemente Freshman Tritons 12-2 on Saturday. Oilers scored on an error, a single by Jared Marchbank, and a double by Owen Bone in the second inning.
After Oilers scored one run in the top of the seventh, San Clemente Freshman Tritons answered with one of their own. San Clemente Freshman Tritons then answered when Adam Mendoza singled on a 0-2 count, scoring one run.
Oilers pulled away for good with four runs in the second inning. In the second an error scored one run for Oilers, Marchbank singled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring one run, and Bone doubled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring two runs.
Marchbank led things off on the hill for Oilers. The righthander surrendered one run on two hits over three innings, striking out one.
Oilers tallied one home run on the day. Nathan Sammartano went yard in the fourth inning.
