Freshman Oilers stole the lead late in the game in a 6-5 victory over the Los Alamitos Griffins on Tuesday. The game was tied at five with the Oilers batting in the top of the seventh when Sol Moriyama drew a walk, scoring one run.
Oilers earned the victory despite allowing the Griffins to score four runs in the second inning.
Griffins captured the lead in the second inning when Garfiaz was struck by a pitch, driving in a run.
Nathan Sammartano took the win for the Oilers. The righty lasted four and two-thirds innings, allowing one hit and zero runs while striking out seven. Owen Bone threw one inning in relief out of the bullpen.
