Oilers defeated Gahr Gladiators 15-0 on Thursday thanks in part to eight runs in the sixth inning. Phillip Kang doubled, scoring two runs, CJ Weinstein tripled, scoring one run, Tony Martinez hit a sacrifice fly, scoring one run, Trevor Goldennetz singled, scoring one run, Tyler Soeltz was struck by a pitch, driving in a run, Kang grounded out, scoring one run, and Weinstein singled, scoring one run.
Oilers got on the board in the bottom of the first inning after Linkin Garcia singled, Gahr committed an error, and John Petrie singled, each scoring one run.
Otto Espinoza started on the bump for Oilers. The starting pitcher allowed zero hits and zero runs over three innings, striking out five and walking two. Jake Frohn, Jimmy Kanaley, and Tanner Brown each threw shutout innings for Oilers in relief.
Oilers accumulated 10 hits in the game. Weinstein went 2-for-4 at the plate to lead Oilers in hits. Kang went 1-for-2 at the plate as they led the team with three runs batted in. Huntington Beach Varsity Oilers didn't commit a single error in the field.
