Oilers bested Mater Dei Junior Varsity Monarchs Grey 6-1 on Tuesday at Mater Dei High School.
Oilers jumped out to the lead in the top of the third inning after Gavin Pluma singled, scoring two runs, Trenton Ramirez was struck by a pitch, driving in a run, Mason Tapia was struck by a pitch, driving in a run, Micah Riola singled, scoring one run, and Jason Dunham was struck by a pitch, driving in a run.
Evan Hesse earned the win for Oilers, surrendered one hit and zero runs over two innings, striking out three and walking two. Jared Marchbank pitched three innings in relief for Oilers. The right-handed pitcher surrendered three hits and one run while, striking out four and walking none.
Pluma, DJ Matejka, Riola, Sol Moriyama, and Owen Bone each collected one hit for Oilers. Pluma provided pop in the middle of the lineup, and led Oilers with two runs batted in. The right-handed hitter went 1-for-3 on the day. Charlie Henderson stole two bases. Oilers worked the count all day, tallying six walks. Oilers ran wild on the base paths, amassing seven stolen bases for the game. Oilers were sure-handed and didn't commit a single error.
