Oilers Freshman win 15-2 against Villa Park.
An eight-run fifth inning led Huntington Beach Freshman Oilers to a 15-2 victory on Saturday. The offensive onslaught by Charlie Henderson, Tommy August, Jason Dunham, Sol Moriyama, and Dane Cunningham, all sending runners across the plate with RBIs in the inning.
In the first inning, Oilers got their offense started when Cunningham tripled on a 2-0 count, scoring one run.
Oilers notched eight runs in the fifth inning, batters contributing to the big inning included Henderson, August, Dunham, Moriyama, and Cunningham, who all drove in runs.
Cunningham was credited with the victory and surrendered zero runs on one hit over four innings, striking out six. Jared Marchbank and Grady Ream entered the game out of the bullpen and helped to close out the game in relief.
Oilers hit one home run on the day by Cunningham in the fifth inning.
Cunningham went 3-for-3 at the plate to lead in hits. Oilers didn't commit a single error in the field. Easton Shortle had the most chances in the field with eight. Huntington Beach Freshman Oilers stole seven bases during the game as two players stole more than one. Mason Tapia led the way with two.
