Freshman Oilers defeated JSerra Catholic Lions 3-0 on Tuesday as two pitchers combined to throw a shutout. Steel Kurtz induced a groundout from Marcus Greis to finish off the game.
The pitching was strong on both sides. Oilers pitchers struck out five, while Corwin Allard sat down five.
Jared Marchbank was the winning pitcher for Oilers. The righty went six innings, allowing zero runs on five hits and striking out four. Kurtz threw one inning in relief out of the bullpen.
Dane Cunningham, Jason Dunham, Owen Bone, Easton Shortle, and Nathan Sammartano each collected one hit to lead Oilers.
