2025 Varsity Spring Schedule Reveal
Oilers will host 10 games in a jam-packed 27-game season
THE WAIT IS OVER!! Here is the exclusive look at the 2025 Spring Schedule that has the Oilers kicking off the regular season at Blair Field on Tuesday, March 4 versus Harvard-Westlake.
This season's format looks a bit different than years past as this will be the latest Opening Day start for the Oilers in the Benji Medure coaching era. The schedule also includes a record of 18 Sunset League games in the new realigned division. Huntington Beach, who participated in the "Surf" section of the Sunset League (the other section was defined by "Wave"), will be joined with Fountain Valley, Corona Del Mar, Edison, Los Alamitos, Marina and Newport Harbor. This seven-team league will go head-to-head with one another three times in primarily a three-game series format (Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday).
The Oilers will once again take part in two of the most prestigious tournaments in the United States. First up will be the "The Boras Baseball Classic". Taking place March 25-28 between hosts Mater Dei and JSerra, this stretch of games will feature some of the best talent that southern California has to offer. Last season, the Oilers reached the semifinals before falling to eventual champion Mater Dei Monarchs. This year's tournament bracket will be released at a further date.
The second tournament will have the Oilers packing their bags and heading to Cary, North Carolina for the fourth consecutive year at the "National High School Invitational" hosted by USA Baseball. The Oilers, two-time champions (2016 & 2023), secured a spot in last year's semifinals before enduring heartbreak to the Corona Panthers who defeated the Orange Lutheran Lancers in the championship game. This year's tournament bracket will be released at a further date.
When the 27-game regular season comes to a close on Tuesday, May 6 versus Fountain Valley, the CIF Playoffs will be on the horizon beginning the week of May 12.
Until the spring season arrives, the Oilers will continue their offseason preparation in the fall exhibition campaign with the Intersquad World Series. The best of five series will split the Oilers roster in two teams (Coach Mick vs. Coach August) to see who earns bragging rights all year long. Every game will be played at the HBHS Varsity Field at 2:30 PM beginning December 10.
RADIO NOTE: All Oilers Varsity Baseball games (beginning in the spring) will be live audio streamed via hbhsathletics.mixlr.com with "Voice of the Oilers" Dominick Lorenz. Every broadcast will begin roughly 15 minutes before first pitch and include a pregame show, play-by-play coverage and postgame show.
