Stage Is Set For Opening Day
Huntington Beach and Harvard-Westlake will battle at Blair Field to kick off the 2025 season
The time has come to lace up the cleats and play ball as the Huntington Beach Oilers get set to officially begin the 2025 Spring Season on Tuesday, March 4. The Oilers, who are experiencing a later than usual start to the season, will go toe-to-toe versus Harvard-Westlake Wolverines at 5:00 PM from Blair Field, home of the Cal State Long Beach Dirtbags.
Huntington Beach, led by manager Benji Medure, come into the season ranked #3 in the nation via MaxPreps.com and Perfect Game USA. Also, they are accompanied by a commitment-rich roster that ranks #2 in the nation with 14 active roster players already verbally or signing to play at the collegiate level.
The Oilers and Wolverines have a minimal history over the past five seasons, playing in just two head-to-head games (2019 & 2020). Last season, they were on a collision course on two different occasions to meet, but Huntington Beach came up just short in the semifinals of CIF Division 1 Playoffs and Harvard-Westlake had a schedule adjustment before the final day of the NHSI Tournament in Cary, NC.
With two high-profiled programs in the same stadium, all eyes will be on the athletes looking to make a first impression early on in the season that could have implications moving towards the postseason in May.
RADIO NOTE: All Huntington Beach Oilers Varsity Baseball games in 2025 will be live audio streamed via hbhsathletics.mixlr.com with "Voice of the Oilers" Dominick Lorenz. Every broadcast will begin roughly 15 minutes before first pitch and include a pregame show, play-by-play coverage and postgame show.
