To: The Oilers / From: Your Broadcaster
The season may be over, but there is still a lot to say about this team!
Dear Oilers,
Wow, the 2025 season came and went in a blink of an eye and boy, there were a ton of memories made from start to finish. From kicking off the year two weeks later than everyone else at Blair Field with an 8-3 win over Harvard Westlake, running with you guys to centerfield before every game around 2pm or 2:05pm, all the way to sharing embraces on our field after the last game wearing the HB uniform. It was truly a rollercoaster ride of emotions that took us all on a wild journey that none of us could imagine, including a weeklong east coast swing to North Carolina (Ps. The gift of that trip is still something I am speechless about and will forever be blessed from that gesture). From the long summer workouts, 6 AM swim sessions, and live ABs versus one another, you all embody the term "dedication".
Seniors… All 15 of you have left your mark on this storied program and you did it YOUR WAY… well with the help of each other and your coaches too! Based on what you've learned and experienced here, you are well on your way to making positive impacts in the world as athletes and men. I am proud of all that you do and the talents you possess. Also, if I was gonna get dunked with freezing cold water by anyone… I'm thrilled you had the honor to do it!
Coaches… Thank you for always granting me ultimate access to this program which helps bring Oilers Baseball to life in so many ways. From the chats about the game itself to just funny stories, there is never a dull moment! Keep teaching the next generation of baseball and staying the best coaching staff in the nation!
Boosters/Families/Fans/Etc… Your endless support of this program is truly unmatched! Thank you for supporting every single player's ambitions, making the home and road trips and especially tuning into the broadcasts. I cannot thank you enough for building the fanbase that tunes into every game and even having people reciting key phrases like "Oh Me Oh My" and "Down By Way Of The K". It's a special honor that I have no words to express my gratitude.
It's been an absolute privilege for the third consecutive year to be the "Voice of the Oilers" and I do not take it for granted for a single second. All of your kindness, hospitality and true family nature makes this the best job I've ever had. They say "when you love what you do, you'll never work a day in your life", well… I find that true every time I come to the ballpark wearing the black and orange.
Until next season, I'll wrap this up by how I always close out a broadcast… "Be happy, be healthy, GO OILERS and good night everybody!
Sincerely,
Dominick Lorenz - aka "Dirty Dom"
